Negotiation of Employment Contracts
Executives and other key employees may be offered, or may desire, a written employment contract. Employment contracts are important to clearly spell out the rights and obligations of the employer and employee during the term of the employment contract.
These contracts may address issues such as amount and form of compensation, terms to end employment, handling of confidential information and material, health, vacation and insurance benefits and other terms of employment.
These types of negotiations may have several rounds of drafts of the proposed agreement, and having an experienced attorney advocating for you may be in your best interest. Some employment contracts address seperation packages and some do not. Senior executives may be able to negotiate “not for cause” severance agreements upon being hired. We assist small employers and senior executives in negotiating employment agreements.
